Educating & Passing On Our Passion For Life
Education is the driving force for conservation, we aim to educate people on the weird and wonderful side of our natural world. Join us in sharing our passion for all things living, book today!

Here are 2 of our different species of Giant African Land Snail. Their favourite food is carrot and left over Crested Gecko Diet from my reptiles! They like the warmth of being handled and show a lot of curiosity for their surroundings.
Hermes & Chomp

Indian Stick 372
This is Indian Stick Insect No. 372! She's a right character. Only kidding! These insects are brilliant to handle, they treat you just like a branch and when they get a bit scared they sway and dance like leaves in the wind! They reproduce independently, meaning they're a great teaching tool for parthenogenesis.

Creeper
This is our Giant Orange Millipede, Creeper! This lovely leggy beastie feels so unique walking across your hand. They're just like a very long, very large woodlouse and great to use to teach about detritivores and their role in the ecosystem.

Our Ethos
Small creatures. Extraordinary lives.
Â
The Creature Cabinet exists to challenge the idea that an animal has to be large, colourful or conventionally charismatic to deserve our fascination, respect and protection.
Â
We believe every creature has a purpose, a natural history and a life worth understanding. From the smallest isopod to the most remarkable mantis, snail or arachnid, we aim to give invertebrates the attention and appreciation they so often go without.
Â
Our priority is animal welfare above all else. Every animal in The Creature Cabinet deserves an environment that allows it to express natural behaviours, with appropriate space, enrichment, nutrition, climate, social opportunities and places to retreat. We do not keep animals simply because they look interesting; we keep them because we are committed to understanding and caring for them properly.
Where possible, our enclosures aim to recreate living ecosystems rather than displays. Plants, microorganisms, clean-up crews and the animals themselves form interconnected communities, allowing us to observe natural behaviours and relationships rather than simply presenting an animal behind glass.
We believe that good husbandry begins with curiosity. We continually learn, question established practices and adapt our care as our understanding develops. There is always more to discover, and we would rather admit that we do not know something than pretend that we do.
Â
Education is at the heart of The Creature Cabinet. We want people to leave with a little more wonder than they arrived with — perhaps seeing a snail, gecko, beetle or mantis not as something strange or insignificant, but as a fascinating animal with its own evolutionary story and place in the world.
We also believe that responsible keeping means recognising the limitations of captivity. Not every species belongs in a collection, and no animal should be acquired simply because it is available. Research comes before acquisition, welfare comes before aesthetics, and the animal comes before the keeper.
The Creature Cabinet is built on a simple principle:
If we choose to take responsibility for a creature's life, we owe that creature our very best.
Â
Our aim is not to collect as many animals as possible. It is to create a cabinet of living curiosities where every inhabitant is valued, understood and cared for — and where even the smallest creature can inspire genuine wonder.
Â
Observe. Understand. Respect. Protect.
That is the ethos of The Creature Cabinet.
